GROUND BREAKING FOR VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK
LCD, in conjunction with American Legion Post #124, as well as Subcontractors Concrete Structures, Light works Electric, Lovett & many local veterans will be doing an official groundbreaking ceremony of the Veterans Memorial Park.
The Veterans Memorial honors Corporal Richard A. Jannigan, who was killed in the Vietnam War. The memorial lists the names of all the Oregonians who died in the Vietnam War and those who were listed as missing in action. The memorial was dedicated on June 1968 and then rededicated in 1982 by Tom McCall.
The memorial was on display from 1968 to the fall of 2015 at the Beaverton Elks Lodge (located at 3500 SW 104th). The Veterans Memorial was removed from the Beaverton Elks building due to the sale and re-purposing of the facility. Once LCD was made aware of the sale of the building, company president Jerry Jones Jr. jumped at the opportunity to assist local veterans with the relocation of the memorial to preserve the memory of all of the fallen soldiers that served in the Vietnam War.
The LCD Team, lead by Project Manager JR Rutan, along with all the involved contractors and suppliers are very proud to be associated with such a noble project to preserve the memory of those who sacrificed so much for us all.
The overall cost for this project could have exceeded $125,000.00 without all of the donations of time, material and equipment received from our subcontractors along with our own contribution, which cut the overall project in half to $ 61,084.00.
Please join us at this great event on Monday, April 4th at 11am with many dignitaries including mayor, federal & local officials, band, honor guards, Patriot Guard Riders motorcycle group & various veteran organizations. The project kicks off Monday located at SW 7th & SW Watson Ave, Beaverton, OR 97005.
